Stuttering is a communication disorder characterized by repetitive or prolonged sounds, syllables or words, or frequent hesitations or pauses that disrupt the flow and timing of speech. It may be developmental in nature, beginning in childhood and can be mild, moderate or severe.
If you experience these symptoms, you are not alone. Approximately three million Americans, or one percent of the population, stutter.
